9/11 Stories Untold

Rick Rescorla

The first story is about the late Morgan Stanley Dean Whitter head of security Rick Rescorla. He along with Dan Hill and Fred McBee predicted both the 2001 attack of the World Trade Center but also the attack that occured in 1993. On September 11th he managed to clear all but 6 of the 2800 Morgan Stanley workers in the building, and he returned to the building only to try and save more lives only to have the building collapse on him minutes later. Wiki link You can also read the book about him Heart of a Soldier by James B Stewart, there is also the documentry The Man Who Predicted 9/11 on the History Channel.

Bigger than what we thought

On the morning of 9/11 at roughly 9am before all flights were grounded United Airlines flight 23 was about to take off from Newark on the way to Los Angeles. The pilot on the tarmac aware of what just happened in New York decides to come back to the terminal. A small group of Arab looking men are irate about this and flee when it appears security is on the way leaving without there luggage, which contained al-Qaeda documents. Was this a fifth high jacking?
Check out the documentry named Grounded on 9/11 on the History Channel, and on the 9/11 timeline which shows the specific newspaper articles. The morning of 9/11 was a crazy time with many things occuring or alledgedly occuring, but as a history major I don't like using things from individual small sources so I wouldn't want add to any speculation.

Personal Reflection
There is no question that 9/11 is the milesotne event of Generation Y (1981-1997), or whatever you want to call it, it has been infact been called what seperates Generation Y and what ever you want to call the current generation, Generation Z or iGeneration. I will never forget where I was when it happened, It was my senior year the first class of what was a beautiful day across the Northeast. We were just coming in from a fire drill back into my pyschology class with Mrs. Izzi when she told us a plane crashed into one of the World Trade Center towers. I remeber going to the library during my free period around 10:30 and I remember running into Nick Gesualdi as we were both scrambling to find info about what was going on when we were told that it was on tv in the next room and watching the second tower fall. I also remember going to legal studies class and discussing all of what, who, how, and why of what went on. It was also the quietest day that I could ever remember, in school, on the road, and at home (I lived under a landing pattern for T.F. Green airport)

You often hear the expression "Never Forget" I for one will never be able to forget, nor do I think that any American will forget that day.
